The word depend is the prompt for this week’s Five Minute Friday writing challenge.

I usually start the FMF prompt by looking up the meaning of the word.

The definition of the word depend is to be determined or controlled by.

But, most words have more than one meaning.

The word depend also means to rely on.

Asa used this word depend in his prayer in 2 Chronicles 14:11  (HCSB)

Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God: “Lord, there is no one besides You to help the mighty and those without strength. Help us, Lord our God, for we depend on You, and in Your name we have come against this large army. Yahweh, You are our God. Do not let a mere mortal hinder You.”

And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee. 2 Chronicles 14:11 (KJV)

Did, you see that?

In the HCSB, they used the word depend.

But, In the KJV rest is dependence. And dependence is rest.

In this hectic world, we may find rest in HIM, for only HE is able to help whether many or few.

In this crazy world, those that have no power may find the only power needed in the name of the one and only Jesus!

The help of the one and only Jesus is greater than the hindrance of a mortal modern man.

Praise Time In Tennessee, it ain’t about we but thee!
