Saving Spaces for saints and strangers

savingspacesWhen she walks into the room full of saints and strangers.

It’s like swimming in a pool of cool blue water.

She first swims freely over here and next over there.

Over here she finds me saving spaces like an empty seat

with my purse.

Over there she finds you saving spaces like an empty pew

with your jacket.

And back there she finds us saving spaces like an empty chair

with a stack of Bibles.

Guilty are we, guilty are the whole lot of us.

Always looking back at the door for the one and all we already adore.

Guilty are we, guilty are the whole lot of us.

Always looking for someone we know … while a stranger stands thirsty.

Guilty are we, guilty are the whole lot of us.

Always praying for our Father to send us one to share the Good News.

Yet, He sent us a stranger but …

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2
