Please know I love the Bible story of the children of Israel and their Exodus from Egypt. But if you are a christian you likely have some dual citizenship issues to deal with on a daily basis. For one our citizenship is in heaven and for two we are at the least a citizen of our birth country. So likely leaving Egypt is not an option. So what then do we do when we are given no straw, yet we are told, Make bricks. What then do we do when our pay check is not enough to cover the rent but the rent keeps going up. What do we do when the price of a jug of blue top is more than the price of a gallon of gasoline. What do we do when our pay check arrives one day shy of an eviction notice. What do we do when leaving Egypt is not an option? What do we do when leaving Birmingham is not an option? What do we do when it’s no longer 1963? What do we do when we’ve already Marched on Washington? What do we do when Martin has preached his last sermon? What do we do when the new generation knows no bounds? What do we do when leaving Ferguson is not an option? What do we do when we are black and Jesus has given us a new command?
What do we do?
“I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. John 13:34 (HCSB)
Please know I view my writing as mini sermons and the preacher in me does not solicit comments, but you can catch me, every now and again on my Personal Face Book Page and my Face Book Fire Station Page.
